Up to 900 migrants may have died in three shipwrecks in the Mediterranean Sea this week, the Doctors Without Borders (Medicines Sans Frontiers, or MSF) international humanitarian group said Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The aid group noted that the exact numbers aren't yet known.

Nearly 100 migrants were said to have gone missing on Wednesday after a migrant boat capsized off the coast of Libya, then 550 migrants disappeared when a boat overturned the next day, while 45 bodies were recovered in Friday’s shipwreck.

Italian officials estimated that over 13,000 migrants have been rescued this week.
