Eight Firms Win $136Mln Contracts With US Defense Spectrum Organization

Eight US companies have won high-tech contracts worth $136.8 million for electromagnetic (EM) spectrum work for the Defense Spectrum Organization (DSO), the Department of Defense announced.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Defense Spectrum Organization enables information dominance through effective spectrum operations. DSO provides commanders direct operational support, including electromagnetic battlespace planning, deconfliction and joint spectrum interference resolution, according to the agency’s website.

"[The] contract [is] for operational spectrum support, electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) and spectrum engineering, strategic spectrum planning and research and analysis for emerging spectrum technologies for the DSO," the announcement said on Wednesday.

The companies were Alion Science and Technology Corp. ANDRO Computational Solutions, Calvert Systems Engineering, CoSolutions, Harris Corp. (previously Exelis), Expression Networks, Freedom Technologies and URS Federal Services, the announcement noted.

"The contract ceiling is $136.8 million over five years… The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization — National Capital Region, is the contracting activity."
