US NTSB Offers Help EgyptAir Missing Plane Investigation
15:54 GMT 19.05.2016 (Updated: 10:58 GMT 06.08.2022) The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is prepared to help Egypt investigate an EgyptAir passenger missing flight.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) —
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is prepared to help Egypt investigate an EgyptAir passenger flight that went missing late on Wednesday, NTSB spokesperson Eric Weiss told Sputnik.
"We stand by to help [the government of Egypt]," Weiss said on Thursday when asked if the agency had offered assistance.
Weiss additionally confirmed that the United States is the "state of manufacture of the engines" in the Airbus A320 aircraft.
The NTSB can assist in international investigations involving aircraft parts manufactured in the United States, according to international law.
EgyptAir Flight MS804 was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew members when it crashed on route from Paris to Cairo halfway between the Greek island of Crete and Egypt's northern coastline.
