A bomb may be responsible for taking down a missing EgyptAir flight over the Mediterranean Sea, according to US media reports.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Early signs suggest that a bomb is responsible for taking down a missing EgyptAir flight over the Mediterranean Sea, according to US media reports on Thursday.

​​EgyptAir Flight MS804 departed from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 23:09 GMT. The aircraft was heading for Cairo International Airport. According to the airline, there were a total of 66 people on board the plane, including 56 passengers. 

Earlier, Russian Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov also said EgyptAir passenger jet disappearance is most likely linked to a terrorist act.
