The first weeks of May are marked by a sharp rise in NATO activity in the Baltics and Eastern Europe, with military drills codenamed “Spring Storm” and “Platinum Lion 16-3” being followed by US fighters flying dangerously close to Russian borders and ABM system deployment in Eastern Europe.

While officially founded to supposedly respond to “Soviet aggression”, the post-Soviet version of NATO has evolved into an organization that can carry out Western aggression against Russia, with these latest war games bearing testament to that fact.

Using the Ukrainian Crisis as their ‘plausible excuse’, the US and its allies have set out to provoke Russia in any way that they can, all the while manipulating its defensive responses and falsely reporting them as “unprovoked aggressions”.

This war of hybrid intrigue has plunged relations between Moscow and the West to an all-time low and cast doubt on the prospects that they could improve anytime soon.

Gleb Ivashentsov, member of the Russian Council for International Relations and former ambassador to South Korea and Myanmar (studio guest); Tate Ulsaker, political commentator from New Zealand; and Jan Van Benthem, foreign affairs commentator at the Nederlands Dagblad (The Netherlands Daily) commented on the issue.
