Poland Against Forcible Refugee Relocations, Detention Camps – Official
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The European Commission has pressured EU states to take in their fair share of refugees or pay a fine of 250,000 euros ($287,000) per person for their resettlement elsewhere.

"Seventy years after World War II, someone in a civilized progressive part of Europe comes up with mass deportations and resettlement to countries where the refugees do not want to go," Waszczykowski said in an interview with the TVN broadcaster.

The diplomat stressed that Warsaw is against a "caste of officials in Brussels selected by political agreements between states."

Under the Commission’s new plan, a country that is receiving disproportionate numbers of asylum applications would share refugees across the European Union until the number of applications is back at the acceptable level.

Diplomats of the Visegrad Four group, comprising the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, rejected the European Commission’s proposal the same day it was made on Wednesday, May 4.
