Nearly half of likely US voters in Ohio, home state of Republican presidential candidate John Kasich, have grown weary of his continued bid for the presidential nomination, according to a new poll by Public Policy Polling released on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Just 38 percent of the polled think Kasich should stay in the race, compared with 49 percent who think it is time for the governor to drop out, the poll found.

“Voters in the state are getting sick of John Kasich's presidential campaign,” the polling company said. “Part of the problem for Kasich is that voters feel he's neglecting his duties as governor.”

Initially, Ohio voters were enthusiastic about Kasich’s presidential bid, giving their governor his only victory in more than 40 US states that already selected delegates to the Republican convention.

Moreover, Kasich is so far behind front-runner Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz that some pollsters have stopped including Kasich in their surveys.
