At his final White House Correspondent's dinner on Saturday US President Barack Obama told a joke that the foreign policy experience of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is limited to meeting beauty queens from around the world during the Miss Universe beauty pageant.

"The Republican establishment is incredulous that he’s their most likely nominee," Obama told the audience.

"They say Donald lacks the foreign policy experience to be president. But in fairness he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world: Miss Sweden, Miss Argentina, Miss Azerbaijan."

Neocons Make Trump Sound Like Peacenik on Foreign Policy
Camilla Hansen, who won the Miss Sweden title in 2014 and represented her country at that year's Miss Universe pageant, told the New York Post that in spite of the gibes, she was impressed by Trump when she met him.

"He’s obviously a very successful guy," she said.

"I think he is a likable person when you're around him because he's someone who takes over a room."

Hansen said that she was not offended by Obama's joke, which "brought a smile to my face."

"I thought it was kind of funny, but also a little derogatory, obviously. [Obama] was kind of being sarcastic about me and the other women in the competition. It’s sort of important for us. But it was light-hearted," she said.
