The demonstrators called for a full-scale investigation into the arson and condemned the Monday decision of Odesa's authorities to block the access to the tragedy site for the people, who wanted to commemorate the victims due to an alleged bomb threat.

On May 2, 2014, pro-Kiev radicals blocked anti-government protesters in Odesa's House of Trade Unions and set the building on fire by hurling Molotov cocktails inside.
