French police used tear gas to disperse activists, who came on Sunday at the May Day demonstration in Paris, local media reported.

PARIS (Sputnik) — Clashes with the police broke out when a group of young men, hiding their faces behind motorcycle helmets and hoods started throwing garbage and bottles at police, the BFMTV channel reported. The young men were screaming "Everybody hates the police", "The police, get out."

According to the trade union organizations involved in the May Day demonstration about 70,000 people attended the rally in French capital.

In recent months, a wave of student rallies against the amendments to the French labor code that may lead to an increase in working hours, among other unpopular measures, have swept the country.
