"Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have reached a political agreement to facilitate a Fine Gael-led minority government," the party of acting Prime Minister Enda Kenny announced in a statement on its Facebook page.

The parties will now hold separate parliamentary meetings to draft the final agreement and outline the details of confidence arrangements, the statement continued.

The UK’s Guardian newspaper said that Fine Gael will also have to shore up support among independent lawmakers after all other political parties refused to coalesce with it.
