MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Serbia's military neutrality is enshrined in a 2007 parliamentary resolution.
In February, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic signed a confirmation of the country’s cooperation plan with NATO, triggering a series of anti-NATO protests and calls for a referendum on Serbia possibly joining the Alliance.
"I want to reiterate that the Republic of Serbia hasn't changed and doesn't intend to change [its] unambiguously declared military neutrality," Djordjevic said at the MCIS.
Since 2014, NATO has been building up its military presence in Europe, particularly in eastern European countries bordering Russia, using Moscow's alleged interference in Ukraine as a pretext for the move.
