US House Passes Legislation to Increase Security at International Airports
The US House of Representatives has passed an airport security bill designed to improve security measure at foreign airports that service flights to the United States, US Congressman Steve Scalise said in a Twitter message.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The bill, dubbed Securing Aviation from Foreign Entry Points and Guarding Airports Through Enhanced Security Act, was introduced to the House of Representatives in March.
"Rep [Representative] John Katko's bill to increase security at international airports (that connect to the US) just passed the House," Scalise stated on Monday.
The legislation would direct the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to carry out risk assessment of foreign airports that service nonstop flights to the United States.
Under the bill, the TSA will be able to donate security screening equipment to foreign airports to address potential security threats to US citizens.
