Russia Delivers Two Tons of Humanitarian Assistance to Syrian Refugees

Some two metric tons of humanitarian aid were supplied to Syrian refugees affected by the ongoing civil war, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the document, medical workers of the Russian center for reconciliation in Syria provided medical assistance to 36 civilians.

"Russian Centre for reconciliation in cooperation with Latakia province administration provided humanitarian aid to Syrian civilians, which had been evacuated from the Idlib province to Latakia city. Refugees have received about two tons of humanitarian cargos," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website on Tuesday.

Russia is currently forming humanitarian convoys for Syrian citizens of inhabited areas in the Hama province.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with forces loyal to the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting against numerous opposition and extremist groups.
