CAIRO (Sputnik) — The delegation of Shiite Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, will leave for Kuwait on Wednesday evening to participate in the fresh round of negotiations between the parties to the Yemeni conflict, the Al Arabiya television news channel reported, citing a high-ranking member of the Houthi group.

Pro-presidential forces and the Shiite Houthi rebel movement in Yemen agreed to a ceasefire last month that came into effect at midnight on April 10.

The sides were meant to start peace talks in Kuwait on Monday. However, later in the day, the United Nations' Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, announced that the new round of intra-Yemeni talks, initially scheduled for the beginning of the week, would be postponed amid continued violence in breach of a cessation of hostilities.

Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Houthi rebels. The rebels are supported by army units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
