Russian government hopes that Ukrainian cabinet reshuffle will not aggravate the situation with Eastern Ukrainian region, Russia’s envoy to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Moscow hopes that the change in the new Ukrainian government will not lead to a worsening of the situation in the country’s eastern regions, Russia’s envoy to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe said Friday.

“We hope that the current ‘boiling’ in the corridors of power in Ukraine will not lead to attempts to use the situation in Donbas for a political fight and won’t provoke further aggravation,” Alexander Lukashevich said.

Change of Prime Minister Unlikely to Affect Ukraine’s Policies
On Thursday, Ukraine appointed the country’s Parliament speaker, Volodymyr Groysman, to head the government after Arseniy Yatsenyuk resigned.

“It’s quite the opposite, we hope that the new Ukrainian government will finally actually take on the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, refrain from dragging the [reconciliation] negotiations on and provoking tension,” Lukashevich added.

Ukraine is currently going through turbulent political times. The crisis escalated in February, after the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, a faction aligned with the president, said that the cabinet's work in 2015 was unsatisfactory. Shortly following, the Ukrainian parliament failed to pass a resolution of no-confidence to force the government of Yatsenyuk to resign. After that, various factions left the ruling parliamentary coalition.
