MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Choquehuanca is currently on an international tour, and held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on April 12.

"This visit is very important for us, Bolivians, because it strengthens our relations… It is more and more important to know that we need a dialogue between both nations on various problems," Choquehuanca said.

According to the official, the issues such as drug trafficking, poverty and immigration are global.

During his meeting with Lavrov, Choquehuanca discussed "joint actions in education, healthcare, hydrocarbons and energy sector."

"And we have not only addressed problems in these bilateral themes, we have also shared some of our concerns how we can pursue together the fight against terrorism, against drugs, against drug trafficking," the minister said.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1945, despite the fact that the first contact between the states took place in 1898. The states keep contacts on the levels of foreign ministries and parliaments.
