The delegation of Syria’s opposition formed at the Russian Hmeymim air base is grateful to Moscow for its support and real commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in Syria, Mais Krydee, a representative of the opposition, told Sputnik on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Krydee met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov to discuss the roadmap for the political settlement in Syria.

"We are thankful to the Russian efforts to support internal Syrian opposition. At the meeting just now Mr. Bogdanov was so positive, he always tries to be close to members of all the Syrian oppositions, and to listen to them. Because Russia really wants to solve the Syrian problem," Krydee said.

"It’s good that international society finally begins to listen to the internal Syrian opposition in Geneva," she added.

The Hmeymim opposition group is open for dialogue and cooperation with other opposition delegations at the peace talks, as it is the only way to reach the common aim of settlement, according to the representative.

"We trust Russian diplomacy and we believe that Russia really supports people in Syria," Krydee said.

The new round of intra-Syrian talks is expected to start in Geneva in the coming days.

Representation of the Syrian opposition has been one of the sticking points at the talks, as the High Negotiations Committee (HNC) formed in Riyadh insists on its exclusive right to represent opposition at the negotiations, pushing Moscow-Cairo and Hmeymim groups to the sidelines.
