Lake Baikal: Pristine Nature of the Siberian Pearl

Subscribe
There are some places on the Earth which everyone should visit at least once. Lake Baikal in Russia's Siberia ranks somewhere at the top of this list, and the following brilliant timelapse footage shows why.

The 1,700-meter and 25-million-year old lake (both figures are unsurpassed) contains 20 percent of the world's unfrozen freshwater reserve. It has a unique ecosystem with a stunning variety of endemic flora and fauna, and is crucial for nature. Baikal was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
