Over 2,000 Syrians Plan to Return to Palmyra, Al-Qaryatayn
The ancient city of Palmyra, one of the six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Syria, has been under the control of Daesh terrorists since mid-May 2015. Since its release from the terrorists’ clutches, Russian deminers have continued to demine the city as civilians return to their homes.

The authorities of the city of Homs have prepared 48 buses for more than two thousand Syrians who have expressed a desire to return home to Palmyra and to the freed Christian town of Al-Qaryatayn.

The residents who are returning to the city are warned about settling back into their homes as there is no water and electricity.

There is also a threat to their lives due to a large number of mines that were left by the retreating terrorists.

Deminers from the Russian Armed Forces were seen disposing explosives, as demining and bomb clearance operations continued in Palmyra on Friday.

“Without a doubt, the Russian air force, which supported the Syrian army in the fight against Daesh, played a major role in the liberation of Palmyra from extremists,” the governor of the Homs province Talal al-Barazi said.
