Azerbaijan to Take Part in Oil Producers’ April 17 Meeting in Doha
11:45 GMT 07.04.2016 (Updated: 11:55 GMT 07.04.2016) Azerbaijan is going to take part in Doha meeting of mail oil producing countries, that is scheduled for April 17, the country’s foreign minister said Thursday.
BAKU (Sputnik) – Azerbaijan will participate in the leading oil producing nations’ meeting in the Qatari capital of Doha scheduled for April 17, the country’s foreign minister said Thursday.
"We will be represented at the meeting. The discussions are interesting for us," Elmar Mammadyarov stated, speaking at a joint conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Baku.
In February, the energy ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Venezuela, and Russia discussed the current oil market situation in Doha and agreed to freeze oil production at January levels if other countries followed suit, in a bid to keep the oil prices from falling any lower.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members and non-OPEC oil producers are expected to discuss the February proposal during the April meeting in Doha.
