Israel to Discuss Pipeline Project With Turkey Once Relations Normalized
MOSCOW (Sputnik) At least 15 Turkish energy firms intend to establish a consortium to receive Israeli gas, Turcas energy company CEO Batu Aksoy said Wednesday.

"We plan to establish a buyer consortium [to deliver Israeli gas to Europe via Turkey]. Each consortium member will take some gas in this plan. At least 15 companies have contacted us so far and voiced their intention to become a part of this planned consortium," Aksoy told the daily Hurriyet newspaper in an interview.

According to the Turkish energy company’s chief, around 8 billion cubic meters of Israeli gas could be delivered to Turkey by 2021 under this plan.

Turkey consumes some 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually, receiving up to 60 percent of its supplies from Russia, according to Turcas estimates.
