MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Italy will extradite on Tuesday the former head of the Russian Border Services, Dmitry Bezdelov, who is accused of grafting $16 million, Russian Prosecutor General Office spokesman Alexander Kurennoi said.

“During investigations, it was established that in 2009 Bezdelov, as head of Rosgranitsa [Russian Border Servce], intended to steal from state budgetary funds allotted for the construction of a railway point in Adler [southern Russia] and joined a criminal collaboration with a number of individuals,” Kurennoi said.

“The amount of stolen monetary funds was 1.17 billion rubles,” the spokesman said.
