The lower house of the Belarusian Parliament has approved the country’s new military doctrine.

MINSK (Sputnik) – The last military doctrine was approved in 2002. Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov said the document "had lost its strategic purpose."

Ravkov said that the new military doctrine takes into account all of the latest wars that have taken place in the world, including hybrid wars, which the Belarusian Armed Forces are preparing to counter.

The defense minister said that new additions to the military doctrine include preventative measures in order to remove possible threats and risks of military actions.

"One thing remains unchanged, which is the peaceful direction of policy in our state. We do not consider anyone as an enemy and we do not want foreign soil, but will not give up our own," Ravkov said.
