The Greek coast guard arrested two Greeks for fraud and disseminating false information among the refugees in the Greek southeastern port city of Piraeus, local media said.

ATHENS (Sputnik) — According to the coast guard, the young men, aged 23 and 21, had been spreading rumors among the refugees that the Greek border was open and offered to help them to cross it for a fee, the coast guard said.

The both Greeks were arrested on Friday, and charged with fraud and disseminating false information.

As many as 5,330 people are staying at the moment at a temporary accommodation in the port, according to the Kathimerini daily.
