MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov announced his plans to meet with with US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon on Wednesday.
"We had an agreement even before US State Secretary John Kerry's visit [to Moscow] that we would have a special round of bilateral consultations on present Middle East issues," Bogdanov told journalists.
According to Bogdanov, the sides are due to discuss global issues "bearing in mind that Russia and the United States play a special role on the international arena."
Shannon will also meet members of Russian civil society and take part in events with the US embassy in Moscow, according to the US State Department.
