MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the BBC, the plane began its journey in Saudi Arabia before the stop to pick up passengers in Egypt's Alexandria.
Earlier in the day, a male hijacked the plane en route to Cairo with at least 60 people on board. The plane subsequently landed in the Cyprus Larnaca airport.
Police received a report on the incident at 8:30 a.m. local time (6:30 GMT).
The Cypriot Foreign Ministry said several foreigners remained on board.
