Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived on Monday in the Czech Republic, which becomes the first trip of China's leader to the European country, local media reported.

PRAGUE (Sputnik) — According to the Ceske TV, at the airport Xi was welcomed by Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek.

The broadcaster added that hundreds of soldiers and police officers were deployed in the Czech capital of Prague to provide the Chinese delegation with the appropriate security measures.

During his visit, Xi Jinping is expected to meet Czech President Milos Zeman, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and the heads of the parliament's chambers to discuss bilateral cooperation in the sphere of economy.

Xi is also expected to participate in the joint Czech-Chinese business forum and sign a number of investment agreements worth about $2 billion.
