The Belgian authorities have urged residents of the country to refrain from taking part in the so-called march Against Fear, which is planned to be held in Brussels following the recent terrorist attacks, due to security reasons, local media reported Saturday.

Prosecutors Charge Man Arrested Friday With Terrorism After Brussels Attack
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The march was initially scheduled to take place on Sunday.

According to the RTBF broadcaster, citing Brussels City Mayor Yvan Mayeur and Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon, the call to postpone the event was due to the current need to mobilize the police capacity to monitor the investigation. There is no particular threat to the upcoming event, the broadcaster added.

Almost 6,000 Facebook users confirmed their participation in the upcoming event, which is expected to be held in front of Brussels' stock exchange, where on Wednesday hundreds of people held a moment of silence to honor victims of the Belgium attacks.

The Belgian authorities have increased the country’s terrorist threat level to the highest possible after suicide bombers attacked the Brussels international airport and a metro station, killing at least 31 people and injuring over 300. Daesh extremists claimed responsibility for the attacks.
