India Awaits Confirmation of Two Nationals Killed in FlyDubai Boeing Crash

The Indian Foreign Ministry has received information about two Indian nationals being among the victims of the deadly plane crash in Russia's Rostov-on-Don and is currently awaiting the confirmation, the ministry's spokesperson told Sputnik.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — A FlyDubai Boeing 737-800 plane coming from Dubai crashed at about 03:50 Moscow time (00:50 GMT) on Saturday while attempting landing amid poor weather conditions at the Rostov-on-Don Airport (ROV).

"Our mission in Moscow also has got this information based on the list put out by the Russian authorities. We are awaiting confirmation," Vikas Swarup said.

The spokesperson added that the two names on the list put are Anju Kathirvel Aiyappan and Mohan Shyam.

"Our mission is checking with the local university and Indian nationals for confirmation," Swarup said.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has released a list of those who were aboard the crashed plane. The list included names of 55 passengers, and seven crew members, six of whom were foreign nationals.

According to the FlyDubai operator, there were eight Ukrainian nationals aboard the crashed plane, along with 44 Russians, two citizens of India and one Uzbek national.
