The "People's Oscar" statuette, made by DiCaprio's Russian fans, was finally obtained by the renowned US actor, the cause's organizer Tatyana Yegorova was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

She said that "the statuette was in Miami last week, but since DiCaprio could not come there, the 'Oscar' went onward to Los Angeles, where it has already reached its destination."

"The Russian and American media, as well as Yakutia are looking forward to DiCaprio showcasing the statuette. We know full well that he may not be unable to react to our present or will not wish to do so. But we are already pleased with the fact that the statuette is by his side," she said.

Earlier, it was reported that DiCaprio's fans in Yakutia had donated enough gold and silver for their "Oscar for Leo" campaign to melt down the jewelry and sculpt it into the exact shape of an Oscar statuette.

The silver and gold statue was melted into the shape of the coveted Oscar statuette, with a few upgrades. For example, instead of the traditional gold man holding a sword, this one has Mongol features and will be holding a golden "choron" – a traditional Yakut goblet.

At the 2016 Academy Awards ceremony, DiCaprio won the prize for the first time in his career; he was named Best Actor for his role in The Revenant.
