MOSCOW (Sputnik) – During his visit to Tokyo in mid-April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will discuss the preparations of high level bilateral contacts, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Russia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said.
“During talks between Sergei Lavrov and [Japanese Foreign Minister] Fumio Kishida, a wide range of issues on bilateral relations is planned for discussion, as well as an exchange of opinions on the most important regional and international issues. Priority attention will be designated to the development of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, as well as relations in practical spheres and cultural exchanges. This trip is seen as an important step in preparing for the upcoming high level bilateral contacts,” Morgulov said.
Morgulov did not give a date for Abe’s visit to Russia, saying “the dates aren’t important, but the contents and results of these events.”
He said the most important thing would be that the meeting would give “a strong impulse to cooperation between the two countries.”
