Japanese authorities have started employing ninjas again to advance their interests.

It seems that ninjas, the iconic spies and assassins of medieval Japan, are once again being called upon to serve Nippon.

According to the Japan Times, Aichi Prefecture seeks to employ these stealthy agents "to promote tourism in an area known for historic Nagoya castle."

Satoshi Adachi, a representative of the prefectural government’s tourism promotion unit, said that the applicants must be able to perform acrobatics, demonstrate an ability to use the ninjas’ trademark projectile weapons, shuriken (Japanese stars), and pose for photographs with tourists.

"Our ninjas also have to be good at talking to promote tourism, although ninjas are basically required to be secretive," he added.

The newspaper points out that men and women of any nationality who are at least 18 years old can apply for the job.
