Over 1,000 civilians have died in the past 18 months due to US-led coalition airstrikes against Daesh jihadists across Iraq and Syria, which is 50 times more than the coalition itself admits, an airstrikes monitoring watchdog said in a report on Wednesday.

US-Led Coalition Carries Out 17 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria, Iraq
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Airwars transparency project has identified 352 reported civilian casualty incidents where the coalition was involved, according to the report.

"Based on credible public reports and confirmed Coalition strikes in the vicinity, some 166 of these incidents are currently assessed as having likely led to civilian deaths – with a reported range of 1,004 to 1,419 killed," the report reads.

The Pentagon has so far admitted only 21 civilian deaths in the past year and a half caused by US-led coalition airstrikes.

The US-led international coalition has been conducting airstrikes against the extremist group Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries including Russia and the United States, in Syria and Iraq since September 2014. The coalition has not received an official request from Damascus to conduct the attacks in Syria or corresponding permission from the UN Security Council.
