Saudi Arabia is to provide most strikken Syria's provinces with bare essentials as humanitarian aid, local media reported Monday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Saudi Arabia plans to supply food and medical aid to Syria's regions most affected by the hostilities in the country, local media reported Monday.
According to Al Arabiya broadcaster, supervisor general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and adviser at the Royal Court Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Rabeah and Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies Elhadj Amadou Sy signed on Saturday an agreement to provide food and medical aid to the most devastated regions in Syria.
Saudi Arabia has reportedly hosted over 343,000 Syrians since the beginning of five-year-long conflict in the country and provided financial aid in amount of $780 million to Damascus since 2011.
According to the United Nations, the civil war in Syria has resulted in the death of more than 250,000 Syrians, while more than 10 million have been internally displaced or have fled the country.
