WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A unified list of Syrian opposition members has not been drawn up yet for the next round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva scheduled to resume on March 9, Syrian Democratic Council co-leader Haytham Manna told Sputnik on Monday.
"There is no unified list of oppositioners up to now. The group of Riyadh is very conservative and they would not like to see any other oppositioners [taking part in the talks]," Manna said.
Talks between the Syrian government and representatives of the country's opposition factions began in Geneva on January 29.
On February 3, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura decided to postpone the talks as the parties were unable to reach a compromise on a number of issues. The opposition and government delegations blamed each other for the breakdown of the talks.
"With only one thing can we take part in the talks — ceasefire. That means a military agreement, not a political one. On the political level, nothing has changed since the last meeting in Geneva. So we are waiting," Manna stated on Monday.
Manna added that there have been no "really new dynamics" so far, therefore, he is "very pessimistic."
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian Center for Syria Reconciliation registered 8 violations of the ceasefire regime, the Russian Defense Ministry said earlier on Monday. Violations took place in Hama province, Aleppo and Idlib.
