Turkey refuses the act of bombing on the Syrian-Turkish border, military sources told national media on Sunday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) – Turkey denies having shelled the northern Syrian town of Tal Abyad on the Turkish border, military sources told national media on Sunday.

Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko, the head of Russia’s reconciliation monitoring center at the Hmeymim airbase in Latakia, said earlier that an assault on Tal Abyad of up to 100 armed militants with heavy artillery support from Turkish territory was among nine registered ceasefire breaches.

Military sources told Turkey’s Hurriyet daily that Turkish forces have not shelled either Kurdish forces or Islamic State (IS) jihadist group positions in Syria over the past 24 hours.

On Saturday, the Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG) said IS launched a series of coordinated attacks on Tell Abiad late on February 26. The YPG claimed the assault was launched simultaneously from Turkey and the IS stronghold of Raqqa.
