US State Department ‘Sceptical’ of Idea to Freeze Oil Production
HOUSTON (Sputnik) — The United States is not going to control the country’s oil producers despite attempts by world leaders to freeze oil output at the January 2016 level, US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz said at the IHS Energy CERAWeek conference in Houston, Texas.

“We do not control, we do not attempt to control the level of production of our producers,” Moniz stated on Wednsday.

“I am not sure what a freeze means in any case at a level that is already oversupplying the market,” Moniz stated on Wednesday of the currently negotiated oil production freeze.
