According to the paper, the woman repeatedly cursed the President when he appeared on television ignoring her husband’s warnings not to do so.

Ali D., a truck driver, then recorded his wife's insults and the swear words she uttered every time she saw Erdogan speaking on television and filed a libel suit against her.

“Even if it is my father who swears against or insults the president, I would not forgive and I would complain,” the husband said.

In return, the 38-year-old woman filed for divorce after three years of marriage, Yeni Safak reported.

If found guilty, the woman could face a fine or up to four years behind bars.

More than 1,500 people have been sued by President Erdogan on libel charges and 400 more investigations are awaiting approval from the Justice Ministry.
