MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Supporters of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union, known as Brexit, outnumber opponents to the move by 2 percent, a poll revealed Friday.
European leaders are currently discussing the United Kingdom's plans to hold a referendum on its membership of the bloc among other points, at a two-day European Council summit is taking place in Brussels on February 18-19.

According to the poll commissioned by the TNS research agency, 36 percent of respondents back Brexit, while 34 support the country remaining a member of the 28-nation bloc.
At the same time, the poll also revealed that 38 percent of those surveyed believe that UK voters will ultimately support retaining membership of the bloc, while 28 percent expected the referendum to result in Brexit.
UK Prime Minister Cameron is seeking to renegotiate the terms of his country's EU membership and has pledged to hold a referendum on the United Kingdom's membership of the bloc, referred to as an in/out vote, no later than by the end of 2017.
