MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry discussed in a phone call on Wednesday the progress of the Syrian crisis settlement in light of decisions adopted by the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) at the Munich meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The sides emphasized efforts aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of work carried out by task forces on ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Syria formed by the ISSG at the Munich meeting," the ministry said in a statement.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the army loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting several opposition factions and militant organizations, including Daesh, which is banned in Russia and a number of other countries.
