BBG says it needs the money to fight what it calls "Russian aggression and disinformation". Such terms are also used when the US media write about such extremist groups as Daesh (ISIL).
"It is an old trick to bring Russia along with ISIL and then bring China into this [context] as well. You know, it is an old propaganda trick which was used during the Cold War and is obviously used again," political analyst and journalist Andre Vltchek told Radio Sputnik.
According to him, Western media use different tools in their propaganda activities. They usually develop aggressive messages against Chinese and Russian legitimate governments, support opposition movements and always stand behind the manufacturing of different accusations against unfriendly regimes.
As part of their propaganda campaign, they also support NGOs located in these countries that criticize the policies of corresponding governments.
"There are about 10,000 non-governmental organizations there [in China]. And they are all supported by the West," Vltchek said.
At the same time, the US Broadcasting Board of Governors has requested a record high budget for 2017.The network, which supervises broadcasters like the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe, asked the Congress to provide it with almost 780 million dollars.
"We are talking about a very dangerous and extremely effective propaganda machine" which has existed for many decades, Vltchek concluded.
