Migrants at Calais Camp in France Vow to Resist Eviction
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Marianne Humbersot, of the camp's legal center, told reporters that at least 50 incidents have been recorded in three weeks, as masked men enter camps at night and beat migrants.

"We are seeing increasing breaches of human rights here in Calais — everything you can imagine. And the refugees, who have already endured so much to escape conflict, are finding themselves at the centre of hostility and violence here in France," Humbersot said, as quoted by the Sky News television channel.

Up to 6,000 migrants have been camping out for months on the outskirts of Calais, seeking to cross the Channel Tunnel and apply for asylum in the United Kingdom.

Europe is struggling to find a solution to a massive refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The EU border agency Frontex detected over 1.83 million illegal border crossings in 2015, in contrast to some 283,000 in 2014.
