Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference 2016 (MSC 2016) on Thursday, February 11.

Syria talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US State Secretary John Kerry taking place on the sidelines of the meeting of the International Support Group for Syria in Munich will be comprehensive and include discussion of the problem of humanitarian access in the areas involved in the fighting, Kerry said Thursday.

"We are going to have serious conversation about all aspects of what is happening in Syria. Obviously at some point in time we want progress on issues of humanitarian access," Kerry said during the meeting with Lavrov.

Earlier in the week it was reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have discussed in a phone conversation the situation in Syria ahead of the Munich meeting.

"Lavrov and Kerry focused on issues of the Syrian crisis settlement ahead of the February 11 meeting of the International Support Group for Syria in Munich," the Russian Foreign ministry said in a statement.

"They agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to all besieged areas…," the statement said.

According to the statement, the sides also reiterated their strong opposition to any preconditions that could hamper the advancement of peace process in the war-torn country.
