MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Poland believes it is very important for the United Kingdom to remain in the European Union, and backs some of its proposals for renegotiating its relations with the bloc, Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said on Friday.
Szydlo told a joint press conference with her UK counterpart David Cameron that she considered the country’s membership of the bloc "very important."

"We fully support the prime minister's proposals regarding solutions that are aimed at improving competitiveness, removing red tape and granting proper significance to national parliaments," Szydlo said, as quoted by the BBC.
Some of the topics, such as those concerning welfare issues, need to be "ironed out," the Polish politician said.
"Over a million Poles live and work in Britain. Their work is growing Britain's GDP and we want them to enjoy the same kind of opportunities for development as Britons," Szydlo stressed.
The prime minister has outlined four demands to the European Union, including shifting power away from Brussels back to the UK national legislature, exempting Britain from the EU "superstate" principle, denouncing the euro as the single official EU currency, and protecting the UK economy by keeping eurozone members away from non-eurozone countries’ affairs.
