Due to popular demand, Canal+ is going to rerun the documentary "Les Masques de la Revolution" (The Masks of Revolution) about the 2014 Maidan events in Ukraine. The repeat will be broadcast on February 8, media reports said, referring to the channel's broadcast content guide.

The film was first broadcast on Monday at 10:30 pm local time (21:30 GMT), despite Kiev's attempts to take the documentary off the air.

The film, directed by Paul Moreira, is a special investigation into the events that unfolded in Ukraine in 2014.

In the film "Paul Moreira strips the masks of modern-day Ukraine and carries out an investigation on the firing line of the new 'Cold War' between the East and the West."

The rerun comes as users of social networking sites expressed overwhelming support for the Masks of the Revolution. French-speaking viewers especially praised the film director's professionalism, appreciating the unbiased approach he took in covering the events in Ukraine.

In particular, the film focuses on the actions of far-right radical groups backed by the United States and the violence in the Ukrainian southern city of Odessa in May, 2014 incited by nationalists.

During the production, Moreira, an acclaimed French TV reporter, talked to members of the Right sector and Azov militias, conducting his own inquiry on the role of Washington in the Ukrainian events.

Late last week, the Ukrainian Embassy in Paris asked Channel Canal+ not to broadcast the film as it gives the viewer "a false picture on the situation in Ukraine," in a message posted on the diplomatic mission's page on Facebook, which was later deleted.
