Turkey Threatens to Boycott Syria Peace Talks if Kurdish PYD Invited
GENEVA (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova — People protesting against the participation of Syrian Kurds in the upcoming Syrian peace talks want the country to be divided, Samir Aita, a member of the Syrian Democratic Forum opposition party, told Sputnik on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius confirmed that UN envoy Staffan de Mistura had not invited representatives of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) to the intra-Syrian talks to be held in Geneva on Friday.

"This is very bad news. People, who are against the participation of the Kurds in the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva want a partition of Syria," Aita said.

Samir Aita confirmed that Syrian opposition representatives Haytham Manna, co-leader of the Syrian Democratic Council, and Jihad Makdissi, former foreign ministry spokesman, had received invitations to take part in the peace talks between the Syrian government and the opposition, which they subsequently declined when they found out that Kurdish leaders Saleh Muslim and Ilham Ahmed had not been invited.
