After barring members from participating in military interrogations five months ago, the American Psychological Association is being lured back by the Pentagon.

As part of the Bush administration’s torture program, psychologists monitored interrogations to lend the practice an air of credibility. The APA’s role in condoning torture was revealed last July, and the organization subsequently banned its members from involvement in military interrogations.

A memo surfaced earlier this month detailing that the US Defense Department is desperate for the APA to reconsider its "blanket ban."
