Putin Notes 40% Trade Growth With Peru Despite Global Economic Trends

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted in the phone conversation with Peruvian counterpart Ollanta Humala that bilateral trade grew by 40 percent in 2015, according to the Kremlin press service.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held phone talks with Peruvian counterpart Ollanta Humala on Tuesday, where the two commended 40 percent growth in mutual trade despite the global economic downturn, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

"The leaders exchanged views on a number of topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda. In particular, it was noted with satisfaction that, despite unfavorable trends in the global economy, bilateral trade has grown by 40 percent last year," the Kremlin said.

Russia and Peru reached a principal agreement on the strategic partnership document during Humala’s visit to Russia in November 2014. Putin and Humala signed the document on the sidelines of the Paris climate conference last month.

On Tuesday, the two leaders agreed to continue high-level and other forms of dialogue.
