Kerry: US-Led Coalition Nears Full Control of Turkish-Syrian Border
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Daily airstrikes by the US-led coalition against Daesh totaled 19 in Iraq and Syria, targeting tactical units, vehicles as well as an oil and gas facility, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release on Friday.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted two strikes using fighter and attack aircraft," the release noted. "Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq using attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Islamic State] targets."

Near Ar Raqqah, Syria, one strike targeted an oil and gas separation plant; a second strike near Manbij, Syria, focused on a tactical unit, according to CENTCOM.

The 17 attacks on Daesh targets in Iraq focused on tactical units, fighting and mortar positions, staging areas and a weapons cache, the release said.

Daesh is a terrorist group outlawed in the United States, Russia and many other countries. The terror group controls large areas in Syria and Iraq, where it has proclaimed a caliphate ruled by Sharia law.
